Caribbean Trail

Trail riding in the Caribbean
This is where equestrian dreams come true! Gallop along with the waves, the sea breeze in your hair – simply fly along the coast on reliable Criollo horses. Endless beaches – one beach gallop follows another, turquoise blue sea, palm trees, and rides through the magnificent mountains of the Cordillera Oriental. All this and much more awaits us on the Caribbean Trail along the east coast of the Dominican Republic.
Day 1:
Arrival, transfer to the hotel in Bavaro, dinner together.
Day 2:
We drive (approx. 1 hour) through the countryside to our Criollos and set off through the hilly landscape, palm groves, past the huts of friendly Dominicans, mango and lemon trees, to a picnic and swim in the river. Overnight stay in a hotel in Bavaro.
Day 3:
From La Vacama, we ride along the white sandy beach, partly on a sandy path under palm trees parallel to the beach, to Laguna Limon. We will stay at this accommodation for the next three nights.
Day 4:
Ride to the Rio Cedro waterfall in the mountains. We will have our picnic at the foot of the waterfall, where we can refresh ourselves and swim in the small waterfall pool. Return ride through the village of El Cedro below.
Day 5:
Beach ride at Playa Esmeralda. Here we can swim with the horses in the sea and lie in the sun during our lunch break.
Day 6:
Ride back along the beach to La Vacama. Overnight stay at Hotel Bavaro.
Day 7:
Finally, we travel through the hilly landscape once more and spend our lunch break by a river with small, rushing waterfalls where we can jump into the water. Overnight stay in a hotel in Bavaro.
Day 8:
The scent of horses in our nostrils, the Caribbean sun in our minds—this is how we set off on our journey.
A total of 6 days of riding, 4x 4-5 hours and 2x 5-6 hours.
Level of experience:
You should be able to ride confidently at all gaits and enjoy brisk gallops along the beach as well as leisurely rides through rolling countryside.

Day 1 – 7:
like Caribbean Trail.
Day 8:
Trip to the Samaná Peninsula, afternoon or evening ride across meadows and beautiful forest trails to Esperanza Beach, a beautiful beach with mangrove trees.
The Samaná Peninsula is one of the most beautiful regions in the Dominican Republic and is one of the island’s best-kept secrets. Santa Barbara de Samaná is the most important city in the region and has been committed to individual tourism from the very beginning. With an area of 1399 square kilometers, the peninsula is larger than many of the small Caribbean islands. There is much to see in this ecological paradise, including the world’s largest coconut plantation.
Day 9:
Day trip to the beautiful, secluded beaches of Playa Alleman and Playa El Limon. On a trail through forests and palm groves, we cross the El Limon River and ride along the Rio Abajo River. Lunch break at a river where we can enjoy a refreshing swim. Return trip through the village of El Limon. We climb a hill from which we can enjoy a great view. In the afternoon, transfer to Las Galeras.
Day 10:
Half-day ride to Playa Madama. Depending on how early we return, the afternoon or part of the afternoon will be free for leisure activities.
Day 11:
Ferry ride from Sabana de la Mar to the Caño Hondo Hotel in the rainforest. Forbes magazine named this accommodation in the national park one of the ten most beautiful destinations in the world for ecotourism. Los Haitises National Park, with its mangrove swamps, small islands, caves, and lush vegetation, is a very special experience. It is located on a limestone plateau overgrown with climbing plants. The high humidity promotes the growth of lush flora, which provides a habitat for around 100 different species of birds. Various excursions by land or boat are offered from Caño Hondo (not included in the price), e.g., guided hikes, boat trips through the mangrove swamps to caves with rock paintings, and humpback whale watching (only from mid-January to mid-March) in Samaná Bay.
Day 12:
Drive from Caño Hondo to Punta Cana, visit the small village of Miches or a small ranch where you can see how coffee and cocoa are produced.
Day 13:
The scent of horses in our nostrils, the Caribbean sun in our minds—this is how we set off on our journey.
