About Me
My name is Gabi Schummer, and I was born in Dusseldorf (Germany) in 1964. After completing my training in hotel management and studying languages for a year at the University of Dusseldorf, I went abroad to work as a tour guide for a well-known Swiss tour operator. My first destinations included Fuerteventura and Mallorca, before I finally arrived in the Dominican Republic in 1991.
After working in Samana and Boca Chica, I have now been living in Bávaro/Punta Cana for many years.
I was very lucky that my uncle owned a riding school, which is how I discovered my love for horses as a child. I started vaulting at the age of 5 and took my first riding lessons at 9. Once I was infected with the horse bug, it never left me. When I arrived in the Dominican Republic, I fulfilled my dream of owning my own horse. What started with two horses has now grown to over 40!
Horses play a very important role in my life. They are my best friends, and treating them with love and respect is a matter of honor for me.
Frederic Pignon and his wife Magali Delgado are huge role models for me. Thanks to these two amazing horse people, I have learned even more consciously how important it is to treat horses right: with trust, respect, and friendship!
The idea for horseback riding excursions came about by chance through my work as a tour guide. My guests were increasingly asking about opportunities to ride healthy and well-fed horses, preferably in small groups. It made sense to offer these rides on my own horses.
It always gives me great pleasure to explore the beautiful landscape of the Dominican Republic, far away from mass tourism, on horseback. I am happy to share this fantastic experience with all interested people, nature lovers, and horse enthusiasts.
What I escpecially care for:
- Well-groomed, healthy, and safe horses
- The well-being of guests
- Sustainable tourism
- Respect for nature
- Cooperation with locals
